Rudder bellcrank

Post by Lionchoker »

Found the rudder bellcrank -- aka rudder horn -- rudder cable attach AN23 bolts had made a slot over half an inch long as the bolts pulled toward the front edge of the rudder horn. Don't remember catching this before during inspections. Rudder pedal spring pressure hides this defect at rudder horn. Lost in flight rudder control in G 164A one time; not fun.

Rudder Bellcrank

Lionchoker, a little info first. what year, serial number, check the IPC, is the P/N 0433113? If so the bellcrank is available at cessna and others like univair... This would be a good time to check the entire rudder system for conditions that precipitated the slotted bolt holes. Since there is no approved repair for the bolt holes your looking at replacing the bellcrank. Dennis

Of course it can be repaired. But it just about as cost effective to simply replace it with a new part.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
