Re: window hinge
My broken hinge had AN257-2 stamped on it. That I believe crosses to MS20257P2. The open width of the MS20257P2 is 1-1/16th. My original hinge measured about .9" open so you might have to trim the new hinge but I did not.

Re: window hinge
Where did you order the part from? I called Aircraft Spruce and Chief and both said they dont' have it and I'll have to go elsewhere to get them.
Thanks,

Re: window hinge
What do you mean Spruce doesn't have it. Here is their catelog page with it listed.
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/m ... ohinge.php
Third on down MS20257P2-3 1-1/16" .040" $5.50. This is three feet so you'll have enough for about 18 window hinges. As I said in my original post I put it on without modification but the original hinge I had was shaved down from 1- 1/16" to about 7/8"
Fact is I only replaced the broken half of my hinge it was such an exact match.

Re: window hinge
Window Hinge, PN 0411185-7 is available from Cessna distributors such as Hill Aircraft 800-998-7832 for $35.
If you wish to make your own you might try purchasing the materials from Univair, for $2.

Re: window hinge
Is the Univar part a long piano hinge that I'd need to cut to the proper length?

I have a smart-az reply for you, Mike:
Why don't you call them and ask? They're the ones selling it. (Hint: It is raw material you'll be buying if you purchase AN or MS stock. If you don't want to bother with cutting it, then pay Cessna $35 each. Your choice.)

Re: window hinge
Mike, I haven't bought an actual Cessna hinge which is likely just an MS hinge cut to length. Like other AN/MS hardware I doubt Cessna makes this but uses MS material.
The MS hinge stock can be easily cut with a tin snips in less than a minute, it is no big deal.
The link to the Univair hinge George provided leads to a MS20257P3 hinge. The P3 denotes a hinge that is even wider at 1-1/4 than the P2 hinge I specified and more material will have to be trimmed. In addition I might think that the length of the curled part of the hinge would be longer than the P2 and not match the stock hinge. Though it would probably work replacing the entire hinge the resulting hinge would be longer.
I'd buy the P2 stock which Univair probably also has.

Re: window hinge
OK, thanks for the hints and advice. I guess I deserved the smart-az reply ... being too lazy about calling the distributer I think I'll go with the part for $2.88 that definately fits my budget!
thanks again,

Re: window hinge
I just ordered it. It's a hinge that's 6 feet long, but the part number you have is only for half the hinge. If you order MS20257-3-7200 from Univar, you get both sides of the hinge and the connecting pin all for the bargain price of $15.24 thanks again for the info.
