From what I have gathered, the Pponk gearbox reinforcement modification gets installed through the floor from inside the aircraft. Anyone ever heard of it being installed from the outside?
Thanks

Re: Pponk gear box question
Pplonk is normally fitted through the floor. A cheaper and better option is to replace the main Jesus bolt on a regular basis if landing in the rough all the time . Contact cessna and listen to what they have to say about the pplonk mod. There has been a many discussion on this subject in this forum.

Cessna doesn't like anything that wasn't invented in their own shops. *

It would be very easy to instal when the belly skins were off.

Re: Pponk gear box question
Hello All,
I have another pponk question. When getting the pponk gearbox mod done are folks just installing the reinforcement kit or all 3 kits (reinforcement, inboard landing gear angle attach and outboard landing gear brackets)?
Thanks for the info

Re: Pponk gear box question
There is no need to install the outboard landing gear brackets unless there is evidence of damage or there is exfoliation corrosion going on. Either one is easy for an experienced A&P or IA to visually inspect and verify once the landing gear is removed.
Mike Petrie at MLJ Aircraft Services at Birchwood Airport, AK, PABV, has done many P-Ponk mods and landing gear rebuilds. Talk to him about any specific questions, he is very familiar with the mod.
