Surely y'all have heard the phrase "lipstick on a pig". Well Paul's plane will not need lipstick. I like the base color lip.
Sorry Paul, didn't mean to complicate your decision Darryl probably already applied the lipstick

Paul, did Darrell send you pictures? I stopped by yesterday but he was already starting what them painters call "detail" work. Just fancy noise for "finishing up" IMO
Anyway, the cowl assy was removed, probably to get paint on the fwd fuselage skin where the cowl overlaps a bit. Of course the engine/mount assy was all mask up and looked a really large blob of homemade soap. So I didn't take any pictures. Darrell was not there, and I don't take pics of other folks work in progress without permission.

Here ya go!
.
So far neither Del or Darrell have sent me "after" pictures which is beginning to make me nervous. I've been around those boys enough to know the "practical joker" gene is fairly dominant in both of them.

George, is Old Gar posting from you account again?
Re: Name change for the Eternal Project
Good news! They didn't paint it John Deere green with yellow trim. If all that green primer is covered, do I loose the speed penalty?
Re: Name change for the Eternal Project
Paul, I think the fact that the primer (the foundation) for your paint job is green will allow your 170 to run with the other green 170's. You may have to slow down some to let George keep up with you however

Paul, I really hate to be the bearer of bad news....
...Firstly, if it belonged to me and I found out they'd primed it with green primer instead of yellow polyamide I'd be compelled to cover it up with RED also! So, you've done the right thing in that regard!
...and Secondly, I'm afraid that since your airplane is now both colors... it's just going to be an average B-model....only slightly faster than green ones.

Paul, based on what George says, it appears you are stuck with a 115-120 mph airplane. Wecome (back) to the world of Cessna 170's

My fault for not getting some better pictures to Paul. I'll get some better ones next week when this weather clears and I can get it outside. Hangar lighting is not good for pictures.

At least your lens doesn't have overspray on it like somebody we know! I'm about ready for another road trip to Mena.wingnut wrote:My fault for not getting some better pictures to Paul. Masking tape over things off that should be removed drives me nuts when painting.
