Hi, I am going to paint my interior soon, and I'm looking for the right primer to use. I don't want to use POR15, and I am thinking self etching primer would be the best. Any recomendations?

follow the recommendation of your Paint supplier.
Polyamide its a good universal choice.

Dupont veri-prime has more etch but is harder to get as smooth as comoared with the CR series product which is thinner but not near as tough. For interior pieces we use the veri prime. It is also a light color so is easier to cover with your paint color.

I've used and liked Dupont Veri-prime. The secret is to not use to much. When you think you have a good coat, you have applied twice what was required.

so far 20 years later my interior looks good still, zinc chromate primer and True Value rattle can paint from the hardware store

I bomb canned it before, but it was so fragile, it flaked away so I stripped it back off.

no matter what you use for primer and paint, the secret is surface prep before you paint - remove old paint that could be loose, sand or scotch brite, or bead blast (very lightly on the thin aluminum sheet metal parts). then even with rattle can paint, paint like a pro - light coats, don't just blast it on til it runs. do all that, and whatever you use should stick and look good

You don't need a spray gun though if your gong to do the entire interior at once you might want to go that route. For smaller or piece meal jobs I use the Preval spray paint system http://www.preval.com/what-is-preval. With this I can mix small batches of Vari Prime (or any other two part paint) and spray a few things or just one piece. I can let it sit for a while in case I find something else to spray and not worry about fouling up an expensive gun.
