Does any one know a source for Baffle Fastener Cessna Part No. 0450277-1 as pictured on page 53 item # 42? I can find lots of suppliers of baffle kits, but none of the pictures show the fasteners or even mention them.

I'll have to give them a call and see if they will mail me one. I don't make it up to Anchorage too often. Do you have another name for their business? I get zero hits for "Cessna / Anchorage". Thanks.

That would be some pretty small gauge welding rod. All I have on hand is 6011. Update... tig welding wire looks like it will work great. Now I just need to find a spring at the hardware store. Thanks!

Floats Alaska bought AvAlaska's Cessna business. Parts is 248-7070. If you get Gene he may know the pn offhand. They ship all over the state every day.

I formed mine out of .42 safety wire. They've worked perfectly for nearly 3 years and 150 hours.

Go to http://www.cessnaparts.com/parts.cfm?cf ... lient.cfid and enter your part number. The results will tell you to order a -201 for 21.42 ea. During my engine overhaul, I did quite a lot of business with these folks and I highly recommend them. Orders are sent out quickly, and all parts come with the 8130 forms.

.040 piano wire or there abouts works very well also. It also makes good door handle return springs as per the 120/140 web site. Brian

Made mine up from the piano wire also. Purchased the wire at our local hobby store.

A problem with piano wire is it will rust unlike .42 safety wire or stainless welding wire. Of course I'm just talking about making the hook wire not the spring. For that I choose appropriate springs from a friends spring collection and if he hadn't had them I'd have visited my local aeromotive spring section of ACE hardware.

To prevent/slow-down rust on plain steel parts like wire, etc., paint/dip it in phosphoric acid, let it darken, rinse, dry, and oil it. (Ospho and Phospho are commercial products found in hardware/big-box stores which are for this purpose.)

Okay, for $4 I made one and have enough stuff left over to make a few more. Thanks for all the help!

Anyone that can't make those things has no business working on an airplane to start with.
