Looking for a source for rudder (horn) hinge p/n 0510109

Post by LakeHood170B »

I need a "rudder hinge" p/n 0510109. Cessna's response is its all-too-frequent "no longer available."

This is the part that rivets to the fuselage, just above where the tailwheel attaches, and on which the rudder control horn attaches and pivots. It is item 25 on page 48-49 of the 170B parts manual. It's different than the two places higher up where the rudder itself attaches to the back of the vertical fin.

Anybody know of one of these in good condition? Or maybe a drawings so I can have one made as "owner manufactured part?"

I believe I have one in the hangar. The bearing within it might need to be replaced, but that's an available Torrington bearing. Email me to remind me to look next trip home. (email address on cover of Flypaper)

That would be great! I need to replace this (cracked) part before I can start reassembly, starting with a horizontal stabilizer that's arriving tomorrow. I'll email your hotmail account.
