Alan, I put the 3214t on my 170, I still manage to bend mine from time to time when I romp around on some ruff grass strips, I concluded it's from when I am working the rudders full deflection while the tailwheel is tracking straight. I had compression springs which managed to twist them like a pretzel, since then im back with the tension springs. And as long as I roll before input rudder I rarely bend the arms. Next one will be a ABW steel.
Cheers

Vic:
Thanks for that. I've done it all so far except go to 3214T . I'll do that now and live with the problem. It isn't the end all. I spent a lot of years flying heavy aircraft with no steerable tail wheels so it could be worse. If the 170 steering goes U/S, I can still gaet home ok---providing I have good brakes---which I will ensure I do.
Cheers and thanks
