prop bolts

Post by simatos »

I think I asked you guys about this a few weeks ago regarding prop bolt lengths. I have the D engine with the 6 bolt crank. The stc indicated the correct bolts which I bought but they seem to be just a little too long. Here in Canada they ran about $300. Can you use regular AN bolts for the prop or are they special bolts? Cessna ain't gonna take the long ones back. Am I looking at spending another $300 to get ones 1/8 shorter or would AN bolts be ok?? Thanks G

well, what does the STC say? Generally, you can use a drilled head AN bolt for an AN76 application - but not if it'll invalidate your STC.

if it's only an 1/8" you're concerned about, that's 2 washers each for a total of 48¢.

There were SIX different message threads that simatos posted regarding prop bolts etc. It would have been difficult to have identified all six of them, but this does demonstrate why it's important to remember that, when one posts a thread/question...it is helpful to keep the discussion in that thread rather than create a bunch of seperate threads about the same subject. Otherwise, the conversation becomes disjointed and the information runs the risk of being scattered and misleading.

The six threads were:
