There are at least two different styles of retainers for the tail wheel main spring. I have the type with four small bolts in each side and two of the same bolts going thru the last bulkhead of the fusealage. It broke just in front of the U bolt which helps to retain the spring. During my restoration I went to repace the main leaf of my spring and found that the retainer was broke and I have no idea how long it was that way. I ordered another used one from a salvage yard. When it arrived it had already been repaired with a strap of steel riveted above the crack. the repair appeared stronger than a new part so I used it with no problems. Replacing the part may be fun I did mine with the horizontal stabilizer off. I am not sure how hard it is with it on as the two bolts did not have nutplates on my plane. Hope this is of help to you Bill

It 's available from any Cessna distributor. Try Hill Aircraft at 800-998-7832
They have it priced at $103 (normally lists for $120.)

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
