My wife and I are still sorting out logistics. If I fly and she drives to Airventure, does anyone know where she can park? I see that the normal lots do not allow overnight parking. Is Camp Schoeller the only option?

She could leave the car in town at the university and take the shuttle bus out there.

I just took a look at the live webcam from Airventure. I didn't see any 170's from the view of the Vintage camera, but I think I see them from the Ultralight camera. Anyone on the ground yet with a group parking report?

There are 3 170’s at Portage for the night (a long day of flying from South Texas). We are going in tomorrow morning. See everyone soon!

I’ll be arriving tomorrow morning. From the live cam I count 75+ parked there on Saturday night.

Some came early and were parked outside of the reserved spots even though they were on the List. Once parked they were content to stay put. Really fun to be amongst so many as we have highly polished and highly faded paint jobs. We have highly modified and plain Janes. Lots of different paint schemes but best of all there’s lots of great people here with their great planes.

It’s a good spot. Close the amenities. And all your neighbors are cool. Scarlet is in row 78W. Parked behind Dave Finamore (thanks Dave!)

From Alyssa Cobb Sr. Media Director at AOPA

We will be filming Fly with AOPA 7/26 evening (Wednesday) at 6 pm at my Cessna 170. We'd like to invite all the 170 owners to come over to my airplane to help kick off the show. I wondered if you might be able to spread the word? Any of the 170 owners who would like to help kick off the show can meet at N624JA at 6 pm. I am parked in row 80W.

Thanks!
Alyssa

A bit late in posting this, but here's a pano of the parking area Sunday night. The best number we have so far is an approximate peak of 119 C170s in the reserved parking area. By Wednesday night, several spots had opened up, and they were parking other model aircraft among us.

Left Thursday morning and wasn’t able to say goodbye to everyone. Weather was a factor going East so I went West and but just the same, ran into weather just short of the Rockies but likely I’ll get home late today. Just want to express my thanks to everyone. Thanks EAA, Great show and a great gathering. As I have had in the past , I had wonderful neighbours at the vintage camping. Thanks to Dan F, Dan W, Karl T, the entire board of the 170. Wonderful people. Thanks to George H and Steve G for getting up and speaking on behave of the association.

I owe more than I care to admit to Jim Mc…!! (and I found the pkg by my left wheel-fairing which was iced-down and taken to our Type-Tent to share… THANK YOU!)

Heavy rain and 40 kt wind-gusts expected tonite…. gotta check the tie-downs… We plan to leave on Sunday headed for home. This is my First AirVenture/Oshkosh experience and Now I Know what everyone says is True!…… Oshkosh By Gosh! Yep.. NEXT YEAR!

Here’s what the arrival looked like on Saturday…. We are squawking “Anon” and I can see Jim (C-FIHK) in the Conga-Line already! The Controllers did a great job and made an intimidating arrival a slick-procedure! ADSB certainly adds to the success!
