Hey guys/gals. I am looking to track down some new hardware to hold my vertical stab on. More specifically, I am looking for the NAS allen heads that are on the aft side. Part numbers are as follow.
NAS 145-14
NAS 145-18
alternate part numbers being
MS20005-6
MS20005-9
I see I can buy them online but every place I've looked I need to buy 5 of each. Hoping someone has already bought five and has a couple extra kicking around. Let me know!

The Hunt for only a few bolts.
Hello everyone. I am trying to hunt down the NAS bolts for the vertical Stab on my 170b I can find them in a few places but they all have minimum orders of 5 or more which isn't great. Does anyone have a few kicking around or know where I can buy some singles?

I’m sure that’s the problem… Genuine Hardware will only sell pkgs of 5 each. The bolts are appox $10+ each… so he’d have to spend $100 plus shipping to acquire bolts worth about $20.lowNslow wrote:Try Genuine Aircraft Hardware.

Abushey…. if you’ll buy the ten bolts req’d by them… I’ll pay for all the shipping out of my own pocket…if you’ll donate the remaining 8 bolts to the Assoc’n by mailing them to me ordinary postage or Priority Mail. Anyone else needing those bolts in the future can simply pay the ordinary price per each to the Assoc’n who will benefit by your donation.

Re: The Hunt for only a few bolts.
Say, as you're relatively new to this forum, you may have missed the need to use special washers under the heads of NAS145 / MS20005 bolts. The washers are chamfered to match the radius between the bolt's head and shank. Not installing this required washer is easy to do as it is not depicted in the IPC. Equally bad is installing a regular AN960 washer under the bolt head and causing a stress riser on the bolt head radius. The washer p/n you need is MS20002C5. Hope I'm not insulting your intelligence by bringing this up -- rather do that than read an accident report about some sheared NAS145 bolts resulting in a vertical fin departing your C-170.

Gary good of you to post the washer requirements. I often forget to mention standard practices, assuming the basics are known but its hard to judge the right enough info without as you mention insulting the poster. Good for you and others who put themselves in a vulnerable position to give the best advice when not knowing the receiver.

I bought five new ones from Military Fasteners in Melbourne FL. Yep five, the cost didn’t matter I needed two and bought five. They were part number MS20005-6, inboard fastener. The outboard is a different dash length
