If you are in Canada I don't think they will support Universal Access Transceivers (UAT) which is what the SkyBeacons use. Last I heard Canada was only going to support 1090 Mhz units.

Yes, it IS the “X” to which I was referring. An airplane useful in Canadian airspace will have greater resale value, IMO.

$3000 for the X, $2000 for the AV-30, and undoubtedly more labor for install vs $2000 for the straight tailBeacon and an airplane that will still likely be flyable in most parts of Canada. Also, the tailBeaconX isn’t even available for certified aircraft yet. I don’t even think Canada’s plan is finalized yet, but I don’t think it’s being talked about that is coast to coast requirements.

Wow... the Aviation Consumer article did not reveal the projected costs. That is unattractive.

There are rumors of trade-in or upgrade programs from the tailBeacon to the tailBeaconX, so that’s always a possibility down the road.
