I have had a ibus [7lb bird] hit the front of my cowl on my cessna 170 . The front cowl is full of cracks from the impact with screws that hold the rear of the top cowl to the fire wall sheared. So I have to do the repair . There isn’t on the STC any mention of type of resin used and whether it had a fire rating on the product also. Tried to contact the STC holder via email and phone ,no response . Spruce sells something similar but will not fit . The part we have is for a piper colt , or similar .
I have repaired this cowl before but used epoxy resin but due to damage now a detailed repair has to be done . Previously another bird strike we had cracking around the curved areas where it is screwed together and polyester fine fiber rope was soaked in epoxy was glassed in . However this damage is too major . I am aware Harry,s deceased but was hoping the business was still running . Hate birds , mess up a good day .oh and mess up a good aircraft .
