I can do a LOT of flying outside Class B/C airspace but not all of it, so I'm stuck with ADS-B. When I fly to the DFW area, the airport I go to just recently got the flight school the neighboring airport ran off because they had too much traffic. I'm glad to have the flight school at our airport and also ADS-B because their practice area is now very close to the RNAV/GPS approach path. I shoot a practice approach every time I land there and it is very comforting to know where the swarm of bees is. Luckily all the flight school planes have ADS-B as well.

I think all of us who learned to fly before all the gee-whiz stuff came along look out the window a lot. I know I do for the very reasons Arash mentioned but also because I like to look around while I'm flying. That's one of the reasons I learned in the first place. And now with ADS-B I know a LONG time before I can possibly see them that someone is coming my way. We don't see MOST of the traffic around us but luckily there is a lot of air up there.

Arash-
No, we have never met although I did go to your hangar one day hoping to catch you in Half Moon Bay. You had just left according to your hangar neighbor. It's tough getting inside the fence but I managed being the airport bum that I am. I look forward to meeting you some day. California is a paradise in my opinion and I would live there except for the out of control laws, regulations, and taxes.

In Alaska pilots are ASKED to avoid flying low over wildlife areas but there is no violation if you do. I guess it might be different in the land of fruits and nuts. That altitude data is available on FlightAware right now on every ADS-B equipped flight. All they need is an N-Number.

That's a deal Arash, looking forward to it. I visit a pilot friend in Aptos, south of Santa Cruz every year or so to get my California fix and we usually drive up to Pescadero and eat at Duarte's Tavern so it would be an easy drive on up to HMB.

The 1800 dollars was introduced instead of landing fees. This only applied to hangar owners , but anybody could land here for free. Not fair I say . Now with ADSB , they want to intro landing fees. These are one of the highest on the Eastern Australian coast. The revolt is coming . The peasants are gathering their pitch folks .
Peasants in Australia have airplanes.??!!?? I'm packing up!

It's still incumbent on the pilot to "see and avoid"...even if flying IFR.

Wow, thanks Arash, very generous offer. I’ll let you know the next time I’m in CA.
