Door Handles

Post by blueldr »

One of my most reliable sources of inside information on the FUZZ (Read FAA) tells me that they are so hard up for something to do that OK City has directed that all maintenance inspectors are to get out in the field and make a detailed and concerted effort to locate Cessna 170 aircraft utilizing illegal look alike door handles that have not been certified by Cessna Quality Control. You have been warned!

I heard the same thing.....in fact, they've pulled alot of their people off the MD-80 jackscrew inspection program to investigate & prosecute counterfeit 170 door handle installers.......

I heard today that a mechanic down the valley had his ticket lifted for 180 days because he drilled, tapped and installed an allen set screw in a door handle that was missing the snap ring.

BL you've got to be pulling our leg! Are you sure his ticket wasn't lifted because he'd washed the windshield without using de-ionized water?

What valley? Your profile doesn't say where you are. This is a joke right?

My impeccable source informs me there is also an internal memo floating among the FUZZ advising them to also get down on their backs under all C-170s and check that no one has illegally installed a spring loaded sump drain valve in their fuel selector drain plug hole. I expect to see heads roll and baskets of tickets lifted.

Yep, BL, and also they are taking oil samples and testing for automotive motor oil.

I kind of doubt they'll take very many oil samples. Too much chance they might get it on their polyester slacks or on their hands. Or even worse, the sample could leak in their purse!

I've seen them lately, sneaking around at night, ear pressed up to closed hangar doors, listening for "sis-boom-bah" and "hokey-pokey" music.
