D-SUB tool

Hi ... I am installing a Stratus Appareo transponder and making up the wiring harness. A D-Sub crimping tool from DMC is a little over $300.00 with the pin positioning fixture. On-line there are crimping tools in the $35.00+ range. Keeping in mind you get what you pay for, any thoughts as to whether it is worth it to spend the money on the DMC tool or go with something like the Pro'sKit tool? The pins are round ... as supplied with the transponder. R/Lee (N1967C)

I've been using one of these on my 170 and my Dad's RV8. Works fine. Not as nice as the $700 ones we have at work, but gets the job done. If I were wiring up a single CDI install with which I intended to fly a lot of hard IFR with my kids in the back, maybe fine wouldn't be good enough. But in the off chance a bad crimp leads to a transponder failure, odds are you'll survive.
