It is a very simple part.
IPC pg 4 fig 2 calls out X200 moulding.

some may call Lip Seal channel, Trim seal & Ferrin.
aviation seals.

Simple application appears to be prevent aluminum fuselage parts from chafing against each other.

They are aged, cracking and detract from new paint jobs.

I would like a high quality replacement , perhaps HD Polyethylene?
Can I source a 20 ft roll of extruded trim seal.
You know this almost makes me think of automotive door edge guard. Do not want auto parts on my A/C.

Can you help ?

Grady, That same moulding in the '56-62 172/175 IPC has a p/n of S-202RB. It's available from Univair. It's significantly cheaper than the vinyl U channel available from Brown Aircraft. The 1996 C-172 uses a moulding with a p/n of 0411875-12. This p/n along with S-202RB has been superseded to the latest part number of R581462.
