Any ideas on who to contact regarding refurbishment of the original yokes I have in my airplane? Does powder coating provide an acceptable finish? TNX Regards, Lee (N1967C)

Powder coating works very well. The old plastic coating is very hard to remove so to reduce expense, remove the old plastic before you take them to the powder coater.

Powder coating is vey good and probably the best finish for the yokes.

If you're in a tight budget, prime and pint with rustoleum or some other rattle can, dry overnight and then bake in the oven at 300 degrees for an hour or so. Be sure to open every window in the house first but the result is rock hard paint.

IF you have METAL yokes.... strip and paint with DuPont Imron and you will discover it to be very durable. (Adding decals and clearcoating is also a durable detatil.) Mine are now over 20 years since that process.

And that picture is only 19 years old.

So George, being the originality nut that you are, I assume that the "birds" in the Cessna logos on your yokes are both supposed to be flying to the right? That is one area I failed to remember when I was buying masks for my paint scheme. My yokes look unfinished without them.

Yes, the pic is older...but not 19 years. It's 10 years old...and absolutely no wear yet indicated. They still look new.

Yes, the birds fly to the right. Those were sourced from Cessna by the restorer, and the entire handle clearcoated.

DuPont Imron Gull Gray (55137U)

If you have the earlier clay colored yokes from the A model or a 1952 B model you can mix a Pittsburg paint to match the color. I have enough left to do a hundred airplanes. It last quite a while with mine now in its 17th year. See the attached photo. steve grimsley N2717D
