Cleveland wheels with wheel pants.

Post by ronaero »

Is there a spacer between the axle nut and the bearing cone? The nut seems to be installed against the grease seal discs. Cleveland does not show a spacer in the IPC. I think the pants are installed incorrectly....The seals should rotate around the nut and cone....no part number available...thanks ron

Heres the wheel assy from Cleveland: (although the 5:00 X 5 wheel is illustrated it is the same for 600 X 6)

There is usually only a washer between the axle-nut and the bearing cone/center, and in some installations, nothing at all.

Turns out the wrong parts were installed in the outboard portion of the wheel. The grease seal felt is half the width of the inboard side and is covered with a metal cup on the 40-97a assy...Cleveland sent me the assy diagram that shows the inside washer is held to the cone by the nut and the seal rotates against it. The whole business is held in with a snap ring...Sandi at Cleveland was very helpful....
