VAA Magazine

Post by doug8082a »

I'm sitting here looking at my June issue of the EAA/Vintage Aircraft Association magazine and they have an article on Sun-n-Fun. As I'm persuing the photos of aircraft lucky enough to be picked to appear in this month's issue, whose aircraft do I see but Mr. Russ Farris'. Congrats on getting picked for the magazine! That's a mighty fine airplane you got there :)

Yes, I saw that and I agree it's a great plane. The Magazine has lots of good articles.

Thanks guys, that was some experience at Sun-n-fun 2002. Shay and I were sitting under the wing drinking brewskies when Budd Davisson himself came rolling up in a golf cart, announcing we had been selected as an EAA photo subject. He wisked me off to a pilot briefing for the next mornings photo shoot with the EAA Cessna 210. Later in the day, he came back and interviewed me for an upcoming VAA feature article, scheduled for September.

I spoke to the editor and he plans on having my airplane on the cover as well.

It was quite an honor to interviewed by Budd; I've been reading his stuff for thirty years now. Most of the story will center around my airplane's
mid-air collision with a Continental DC-3 in 1956. And a little about my own colorful past...Russ Farris
