New Owner of a 170B

Post by Falcon »

I just purchased a 1952 Cessna 170B. She is in need of some work, but has great potential! I'll be Joining the Association ASAP and look forward to a 170 Fly-In.

Currently I live in North Texas, looks like I just missed a Fly-In.

Falcon 20 is what I fly for a living. They are old, but fly sweet! I started using Falcon on an Offroad forum years ago, and it just kinda stuck with me.

Thanks for the welcome

I work at Addison and base my plane there. I was in Austin the other day, but it was for work. Most fun flying has taken me north. Flew up to Cedar Mills (Lake Texoma) for breakfast this morning, and had lunch at Bob's BBQ (Ada Ok). I wouldn't mind flying to the south, just don't know where the good stuff is.

Falcon, I'm an instructor (Hawker) over at Simuflite (DFW) and Dan Linn also works in the same bldg as a simulator technician. Sloe-Joe Harris and Frank Stephenson (Ole Pokey") are based over at Grand Prairie. Steve Jacobson is down at Spinks, and Paul Woods is over near Bridgeport. Eric Miller is over at Alliance. Gary Potts is at Hicks in Fr. Worth. Another member and fellow instructor is Ron Huckins, and he keeps his 170 over at Roanoke.
You're in/near fine company! (well, except for me....)

I'm an instructor/check airman in the Falcon 20 "Dry Lease" at Simuflite. I've had a few friends go through the Hawker program, you my have given them their type.

Falcon,
We'll have to hook up somewhere between DFW and Graham sometime. Maybe Kezer in Springtown or down at the Hard 8 BBQ in Stephenville. I just purchased a 170B myself one week ago.

New C-170 Owner

Post by 170C »

Falcon, contgraulations on your recent purchase. Please join our association. You will find you membership fee coming back manyfold in C-170 information and the people that you will meet and with whom you will form friendships.

In addition to the folks mentioned, Kirby Boyd has his C-170 hangared at Spinks (FWS) and a quick check of the association directory show approximately 37 or more members in the Metroplex. There are a lot of C-170's up here. The association has its next flyin this coming Saturday, Sept 17th @ Hooks (DWH) airport @ 11:30. We would be happy to have you join us for lunch, tire kicking, etc.

I have to work next Saturday, but sure would like to make one of the association fly-ins. Are they posted somewhere on the site?

Thanks for the reminder, CraigH. They should be posted.... However sometimes I forget. The Flypaper posts them, and therefore is available online as well.

C-170 Fly In @ DWH

Post by 170C »

George, you are welcome to ride to Houston with Becky & I (yes the seat is in). However, we are leaving on Friday afternoon, flying to Cleo & Louise's (Dry Creek) and having my daughter pick us up. We will have she or my son-in-law take us back to Dry Creek Sat AM to fly over to DWH's, then after the flyin we will spend Sat night with daughter & come back on Sunday.

That's a lot of trouble, Frank, just to go to a fly-in without me. (But I bet your daughter will be glad to see you.)
