Altimeter

My altimeter is most likely original equipment. I have recently noticed the glass fogging a little when descending from higher altitudes. The adjustment knob is at the 6 o,clock position and most new altimeters have the setting knob at the 7 o'clock position. I have a new panel and hate to modify the hole to accept the new style altimeter. Will any shops rebuild the old style or should I just notch out the panel and get it over with. I would imagine the dial numbers and needles are coated with the glow in the dark stuff. Any recommendations?

Rudy Aircraft Instruments 479-474-8759. Quick good service in my experience. Their overhaul price list in the latest GA News sez $150 for a standard altimeter.

Century Instruments has overhauled some of my instruments. Can't remember if they did my altimeter, but anyway they have an ad in the Trade A plane.
