The ones I got on ebay work just fine. You need to squeeze them together a little bit with pliers but they snap in just fine and wont go anywhere under the carpet.

I found new ones at iwantcessnaparts.com a few years ago.

PN S1878-1 were the ones I wanted to find but the ones I bought look like the other design.
I'll still used them for the inspection covers tho.

But I have spent far more on much less on getting original parts for my airplane
Ouch. I paid $0.36 a piece for them a few years ago and thought that was ridiculous.

No, but the cost to keep a part that's so low in demand are high after a while, even though they're only sitting in a small bin box somewhere. Also, you have to pay for the person to pick it, the person to pack it, and the person to ship it. Oh, and the third vacation home for the company owner.

Thankfully they're not as expensive as other aviation related parts. Priced any parts for the retracts for a 210 lately? Make sure you take your heart pills before you do. Yikes!

I certainly hope you're using only the proper things on 27% project.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)

Hi, Does anyone have a source for these in bulk for any cheaper? The previous links do not work as they seem to be years old. I found Spruce has them for $1.19ea. Is there a repro version or some replacement? Thanks!

Brian,

S1878-1 supersedes p/n 49390 from the C-170B IPC and p/n 49330 on the C-170 IPC.

A quick online search shows Air Power to have these at 76 cents each. I think they have a minimum order amount so it may not be that great a deal.

I measured the size of the hole in the floor for the fastener at 0.140” or 3.56 mm. Also the grip length needs to be approximately 0.10”. These uxcell plastic push buttons, with a grip length of 2.2-3.1mm (0.087-0.122”), should fit. At less than 10 cents each, the price also fits better than S1878-1.

There is a very similar, if not identical, button or "dot fastener" used on Goodyear brakes. It's Goodyear p/n 95-5383 or alt. p/n X5-49348. This guy is quite proud of his buttons.
