TX C170 Fly-in Schedule for last quarter of 2023

Post by c170ken »

Oct 14th (Revised) - Gainesville Municipal Airport KGLE

Texas members of TIC170A have been invited to join in with Texas Antique Aircraft Assoc. (see their e-mail below) for our October fly-in.

Their fly-in is on Friday and Saturday, so arrive and participate as desired. TIC170A Members and guests will meet on the patio adjacent to the terminal at 1100 on Saturday for ground transportation to Smokehouse BBQ just west of the GLE airport)

If you have questions, please contact Ken Peck at (512) 468-7790 or c170ken@gmail.com.

Nov 18 - BAR VK Air Ranch, Bolivar, TX T38 (formerly TX32)
PLEASE NOTE; The date for this fly-in has changed. 18 Nov is the CORRECT date.

The International Cessna 170 Association members and guests will meet at Karl & Nancy Towle's home, at the Bar VK Air Ranch, on Saturday, Nov 18, for socializing and lunch in nearby Sanger, at Babe's Chicken House Restaurant.

The Towle's home is on a 3000 ft grass runway, so allowance must be made should the runway be too soggy due to rain (yes, this is hard to conceive of, when reading this in August!) Please download detailed instructions from here: https://app.box.com/s/flezeixz44w0xiio91eumj3aqix501sb and check the runway condition NOTAM at the indicated link, before leaving Saturday morning.

If you have questions, please contact Karl Towle at 817-992-5281 or karljiml@gmail.com.

Dec 8 thru 10 - Bryan, TX KCFD

TIC170A Texas Christmas Party in Bryan, Texas. If you haven't received the details by email, please download "Update 1" here:: https://app.box.com/s/bpc6d1o0fof3vf4y7nyd2iy7kaupcb4n
This document contains all the details, including the hotel we'll be staying at, with special room rates for the weekend. Please book your room really soon. There is a really fun and amusing gift exchange included, so plan on bringing a gift.

Out-of-state members and guests are always welcome! This has been a fun tradition that we want to perpetuate for years to come, so we really look forward to seeing as many as can join us!

If you have questions, please contact Ken Peck at (512) 468-7790 or c170ken@gmail.com.

Four of us met at the Texas Antique Aircraft Assoc. fly-in at Gainesville, Texas (KGLE) for lunch at the Smokehouse Barbecue restaurant just down the road. This date, exactly at lunch time, just happened to coincide with an annular solar eclipse, and we were very close to the optimum path for viewing. Nancy had found some inexpensive glasses that allowed us to safely view the progress of the eclipse. Quite a cool coincidence!

The weather was beautiful, the food great and we had a very nice visit. Hope to see you November 18th for Babes Chicken House in Sanger, Texas.
