Air Facts Journal July 12, 2017 Article
This article is written by Grace Miller. I’m guessing she’s the daughter of Colin and Jacque. They should be very proud! Excellent article Grace. Wonder if we could have permission to reprint it in the 170 magazine?

She has an impressive writing ability. Maybe she could be coaxed into writing more stories of flights with her dad in their 170 and have them printed in the 170 News. Great article!

It's a game wherein you pitch small bean bags at a piece of plywood mounted at a slant with holes in it. At least I think that is correct.

I always thought that was called "bean bag toss". Never heard of "corn hole" toss.Hineywheel Bill wrote:It's a game wherein you pitch small bean bags at a piece of plywood mounted at a slant with holes in it. At least I think that is correct.
(In fact, reading the History of the game from Wikipedia above: "The game described in Heyliger de Windt's 1883 patent for "Parlor Quoits" ... De Windt's patent ... .. was the first to use bean-bags and a slanted board with a hole as the target.
...The modern game of cornhole, known more commonly as bean bags or just bags …" ) No info did I see on why "cornhole" became the name of the game "usually played with beanbags."
OK,,,back to airplanes...which sometimes land in cornfields. Or in Mile's case.... are wrecked in bean fields.

George, I'm with you on this one. Never heard of bean bag toss being called corn hole until moving to TN. Seems to be popular here in the SE.
But then they have "Country Fried Steak" which is generally ok, but it AIN'T Chicken Fried Steak!

Not to hijack this thread Frank, but you're right! And on that subject, the BEST CHICKEN FRIED STEAK in the U.S. was found by us in Ruidoso, N.M. this summer following the convention in Cody. It was the "Big Tex Chicken Fried Steak" in the Rio Grande Grill and Tap Room! It was so good.... I ate it one evening and went back the next day to have it again for lunch! They take a real steak and run it thru a tenderizer, dredge it in seasoned egg/flour batter and serve it up hot and crispy with potato and lots of cream gravy! Makes me hungry just to think about it. (Jamie enjoyed the food there so much she was quite happy to go back and have the exact same thing she'd had the night before also!)170C wrote:George, I'm with you on this one.
