Re: 170A AFM
I could be wrong, but according to the TCDS any AFM required of 402(A) would be any required of the specific landing gear configuration. In other words from the specific float manufacturer.
Depending on your floats, there may not have been an AFM.
- 402. (a)
CAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual and pertinent revisions applicable to the particular model, serial number, and landing gear installation

Re: 170A AFM
Wes, where did you find the 1950 date? The way I read the TCDS for the 170A is that if you have Federal A-2500 skis you need the CAA Approved Airplane Flight Manual (Skiplane) dated December 3, 1948.
If you installed any other skis you need the AFM for the "Landplane" we have here plus any "pertinent revisions applicable to the particular model, serial number, and landing gear installation." To that AFM you cut and paste the supplement found in 402(e).

You unconsciously assumed it was RED and ran on TOP of the water.Bruce Fenstermacher wrote: Read skiplane as seaplane

Technically a seaplane and a skiplane are both running on top of water, one solid form the other liquid. Got to be flying a fast green plane to keep up with me.
