For a variety of reasons I missed out this year. I missed the great people and missed meeting my commonwealth member whom I've never met in person. Hopefully the cool-aide won't wear off for awhile and he'll be back next year. As for Cody, I'm in all the way. I have only passed through, landing for gas, food and a stretch, so I'm excited to see more.

As you weren't present Jim, we voted you back on to the board as punishment. You will be assigned your position later.

We missed you Jim and Maryanne! We sat with David and Ros at the banquet, and they have every intention of being in Cody next summer. They are perfectly delightful folks!

Jim, Lolly and I are counting on you and Maryanne coming! And, I offer a challenge to you and our Canadian 170 members 8O . With Cody, WY being closer to Canada than many U.S. States " it would be be great to have more Canadian registered 170's present for the convention than U.S. registered 170's". 8). Are our Canadian members up to the challenge?

Jim, is it true the first cocktail is on the Host? :P

McIntosh... the Nelsons were quite charming and I'm so happy they'll be back for Cody! What a talent we have in him! (and Ros was very much the superior partner.)

I think Cody is a great choice. For those who have not seen it the Buffalo Bill Museum is a must see. Wonderful western art and one of the largest collections of firearms in the world. A trip to Yellowstone would be nice too. Was in Cody for a snowmobile trip thru the park in 2016 and really enjoyed my time there its a great town. Its too bad Hawkins and Powers is not still over in Greybull, that was an interesting operation to see. Bill K

Yes, the Buffalo Bill Museum is included in the agenda schedule. At this early stage it appears the ticket price is good for two (2) days :D Another attraction will be a western dinner/show at the Cody Cattle Co followed by Rodeo.

As far as trip to Yellowstone, it is not recommended from Cody. The distance is too great, i.e. 2 hour drive just to entrance to park. Being on a bus for 8 or more hours to see the attractions would be tiring. The best, and recommended option by Trip Advisor, to see Yellowstone Park is stay in lodges in the park for the two days before, or after, the convention on your own. If interested in this option you must make reservations NOW, directly with the lodges. Most lodges are booked one to two years in advance. For anyone willing and able to deal with a full day round trip from Cody, there are guided tour companies that specialize in this option. They can be searched on the web as to price and tours available.

Actually Jim had looked at how far it was from Cody to Old Faithful - which is 2 hours. The trip to the East Entrance (watch for moose near the gate) is about an hour. Lolly is checking out the tour options from Cody. Just be prepared for a long day, but it would include Old Faithful and Yellowstone Lake and "the Falls." The drive is awesome no matter how far into Yellowstone you go. We've even gone in for lunch at the Lake Hotel and come home in time for dinner and to get home before the deer and elk own the road.

Excited to be sharing my "backyard" with members! Jan

For those who see the notice about the Federal LIFE TIME SENIOR pass going up from $10 to $80 and think they have to rush to get theirs, well, that depends on whether you really need a life time pass. You see when the pass goes to $80 there will also be a ANNUAL SENIOR PASS available for $20.

I would guess it depends on where you live and what you do. I've lived 60 years and never needed a federal pass of any kind. I suppose I could blow $10 now on the off chance I suddenly need a federal pass for the next 60 and need to save a bunch of money.

As I don't qualify for the pass now anyway, this is not a decision I need to worry myself about. Just glad in 2 years when I am eligible at 62 for a SENIOR pass, I can get an annual pass for $20 and not blow budget on the $80 dollar deal.

BTW there are lots of passes to Yellowstone. A individual pass is $15 a car is $30. I'm not an expert, I just used Google.

I believe it's the SENIOR pass which is expected to have the price increase.
