Wanted to let everyone know that Lycoming released SI 1009BA yesterday that extends the TBO to 2200 hours for anyone flying behind the 0-360 (and other engine models). If you're flying more than a 100 hours a month with your plane, it extends the TBO to 2400.
The SI can be found here:

Re: Extended TBO for Lycoming Installations
Thanks for bringing this to the forums.
This will be helpful to commercial operators who must comply with TBO recommendations. Of course, it will not improve the reliability/longevity the engines ordinarily suffer.
The TBO recommendation does not affect Pt 91 operators in any practical way.

You are correct George, nothing changes for us PT91 folks, but man, the flight schools are loving it!

Re: Extended TBO for Lycoming Installations
It also doesn't apply if you use any PMA'd parts.

Re: Extended TBO for Lycoming Installations
It's a cheap grab by Lycoming that you use their parts and not PMA sourced parts . Some PMA parts are of a " Superior" quality and cost less too. [No pun intended ] . So where is listed that you have to over haul a Lycoming engine at a certain number of hours if you used approved PMA parts . It has been assumed that they were overhauled at 2000hrs for that model as laid down in the overhaul manual and other manuals . Overhaul requirements also depend on operator habits , the role the engine has to take and even environmental factors .
Re: Extended TBO for Lycoming Installations
Although I haven't read the fine print yet, but most TBO extensions stipulate the use of genuine parts and mx schedules/procedures.ghostflyer wrote:... So where is listed that you have to over haul a Lycoming engine at a certain number of hours if you used approved PMA parts . ....
