Mystery Parts

Post by spduffee »

Does anyone know what these parts are?
I believe the two long fins are a rudder lock?

This "cap", for a lack of a better word, seems familiar. I hope it's not vital, something I forgot to install...?

Thank you for any and all input!

My guess is the locks are designed to go between the aileron and flap. I think the "cap" is #49, the base of the gascolator in the illustration below, p/n 0511199-7 (Koehler #2215A). Does it glow in the dark?

Thanks Gary, I believe you are absolutely right. So the locks straddle the aileron and flap, making them one? To what does the spring attach? To one of the triangular profiles at the leading edge of the flap/aileron?
I think I put that bowl back on the gascolator before I put the fuel in...I'll have to check to see if there's a drip tomorrow...
Don't remember having an extra one...

Can't tell much from the photo, but are the springs long enough to attach to the tie-down ring? Seems like it would rub against the lower wing skin, though.

The springs likely go to a hole, drilled special or already there to hold the lock on. This is exactly how my locks are held on.
