Back in the late 70's I had the O-300 kick and the prop slap the back of my hand while I was turning the engine over prior to start. One P-lead was broken causing a hot mag. Luckily my hands were close to the prop hub since I was not actually trying to start the plane, only turning it over. I was used to hand-propping a Taylorcraft in those days and turning the engine over by hand was a normal operation. Not after that!

That pic is several years old. I was flying a group of US Military recreational jumpers out of Ft. Leavenworth, Ks. (before 1978) and think I saw it in one of their skydiving publication but don't remember the details. Also noticed the "photog" claiming credit for the picture is French. If this happened in France I would like to see some proof. Looks like Kansas!

My pic is several years old too ! !

They used to do this stuff for fun and photos. The CG is getting pretty far back on this one
Some where out there is a video of an exit where one of the guys on top whacks the tail as he leaves.

Yep this may be the photo I remember or nearly - - but I think one had the guy hanging on the prop. If it were my ass in the pilots seat I doubt I would have wanted the prop used as a strut for holding a big 200# guy in a 100 mph slipstream!

I started jumping before I started flying. My first 100 or so jumps were out of a stock 170 ragwing. I think this is what sold me on the 170, 4 jumpers plus pilot all day long...
