Time to MOVE Airplane! NOW

Post by MoonlightVFR »

I need to purchase aircraft insurance and hire a ferry pilot in just days. OCT 29,2017 12:30PM hanger must be clean and empty.

Aircraft is in super good shape. eng 900 hrs SMOH, comp in mid 70'S. C170B sn 26433 late model modest Hull value w claim 48,000 $. Ready to fly away.

Airport closing announced NOV 1, 2017. City claims repayment to be this date $ 650,000.
FAA & MODOT appear to be compliict in ignoring contract rules for repayment. (e.g. a.not allowing bids on actual real estate b. airport appraised as farm land)
I am in crunch time.

Open for suggestions

I was able to take out insurance pretty much same-day from AOPA when I signed a purchase agreement in August. I received the binder (and coverage) via email same-day, and the follow-up documents as soon as the check cashed. The two weeks between now and the 29th should be adequate to transact a policy. Though I only looked into AOPA, you could also try EAA or AVEMCO directly; I suspect they could also transact very quickly.

I should have used the term "relocate" instead of MOVE.

Purchased a T hanger from the "hanger lady" at KCPS . St.Louis Downtown Airport.

new epoxy paint now curing

Check with Travers Insurance in St Louis, MO. I have been with them for many yrs and find them competitive. They also have been, and may still be, an advertiser in Cessna 170 publications. Talk to Mandy Deimeke @ 800-888-9859.

We've got several qualified pilot/Members in the StL area. Give 'em a call.

Don't let the txdr/elt delay you. The airplane can be operated without that, even to the point of ferry permit, but I wouldn't let that dissuade me.

Just get it moved if you have to. I flew from Nebraska to Socal with no transponder :) No problems, just talk to ATC, they'll work with you.
