Total Eclipse Ground Zero My Airport

Post by MoonlightVFR »

The hysteria is building
Some folks are getting hyped up big time you would think WOODSTOCK is coming to St Clair Mo.
www.stclaireclipse.com A count down clock is installed on website.

HomeLand Security has advised expect large crowds. At best it is sounding like like a carnival.

Will our little airport be overrun by hordes on Aug 21, 2017?

The city has not spoke well of the pilot tenants for over ten years, now we may become an Eclipse crowd viewing
location.

A bluegrass festival is scheduled

This is the Ozarks, highway to Branson Mo

Bring your Banjo!

Sounds fun!!! Banjos and little black film glasses for all our city officials :) Remember the penguin's motto: "Smile and wave boys, smile and wave!"

We all know how some airplane type-clubs are a bit "snooty"...

A friend of ours (he's one of us) recently sent me the following in an email, in reference to a snooty-V-tail group planning a Solar Eclipse Fly-In:

"I couldn't help but chuckle at this and think of the Carly Simon song, "You're So Vain", and one of the lyrics, "...you flew your Lear Jet up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun..."

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)

Wasn't this an airport the city wanted to close down a few years ago? Something sticks in my mind about that could be wrong...

Yes it is the "old Airport" in minds of community Closure approved but they have not repaid $770,000 to FAA Grants.

Local pilots have to watch out for drag racing types sneaking a race. Flash your lights at them and they scatter.

It is ground zero for totality of Eclipse.

I wonder if advertising a flyin for the eclipse would help it in the long run would that be feasible?
