Safety - July NASA Fatique

Post by counsellj »

As we settle into the summer months our lives often get very very busy. The long daylight hours tend to lead us into trying to fill our schedules to the max. Flying is often one of those activities, allowing us to utilize the speed and efficiency of our airplanes to make our summer schedule even more non-stop. Right now guys are at the convention, planning trips to Oshkosh, and many other great fly-in events around the country.

This ARSR report features fatigue reports from Part 121 Air Carrier Ops, but that doesn't mean it doesn't apply to all of us. In the 121 world we have many many layers of oversight and trained professionals in all areas of our operations that help identify the risks, scenarios and symptoms of fatigued operations. In our private Part 91 world, we as the pilot are often the only person that can predict, recognize and prevent situations that would lead us to a fatigue related safety event. This is where a good personal I"M SAFE or other Risk Management process is beneficial to us.

He is the link to the report, enjoy and fly safe. See everyone at Oshkosh.
