That AirGlas extended baggage looks really nice. That's on my "someday" list.

I'd like to replace my lift detector as well. What model did you buy, Arash? I don't recall seeing a Safe-Flight part number in the IPC.

Aryana wrote:Ryan, I bought it from a fellow association member off eBay. I don’t have the model number handy but can check it out when I’m home next month.

He was parting a 170B and I thought it was a good idea to grab the lift detector and assist straps with the ends for 44C’s reserve parts pile.

The list of spares I’ve squirred away is an insurance policy for being prepared when things go sideways on NLA parts.
I bought an ASI from a 170 being parted on eBay and tried to buy the primer. I need to contact the seller again about that.

Bought a Baggage door off of a ‘61 172 from Wentworth in Minnesota. Check is in the mail to Del-Air for the STC. Talked to my IA and “we can do this.”

Thanks to George and this forum for giving me the information and confidence to pursue this mod (when it gets a little warmer  ).

A write up that can be published in our 170 News quarterly magazine would really be nice. I think a lot of us would like to see how you do it and whats involved. Good luck!

Why don't you flip this around and take another picture so that people with questions can see most of the parts needed for installation .... Just a suggestion. :? Having installed a couple of these, to me the hardest part was digging the hole in the fuselage in the exact right place.

Charlie, this is the absolute BEST mod ever to accomplish on a 170! You're gonna be sooooo happy!

There is a simple mod that can be done to make the bag door even more friendly..... That jack-chain Cessna used to limit the door from blowing open too far is a haphazard contraption and worthless. A much better solution, which will actually hold the door open for you and prevent it from continually trying to swing-closed while you're loading stuff is this $11 item (ordinay PK-screws is all you need to attach it): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001H ... Miles - I had the Stratus ADS-B installed when I bought 62C last fall. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but it seems like a very good unit and (obviously) works flawlessly. My shop is a big fan of the brand and has been installing a lot of them over the past year.

Thank you Brian. Mine will be the third Stratus ESG on our airport in the last few months. We’re a couple of miles inside the DTW mode C veil, so I wanted to avoid the rush next year.

My son and I installed two new tires on 62C this past Saturday. This morning, I ordered a new interior from Airtex. While the current interior isn't in bad shape (logs show it was updated in 1986 from the original), it will be nice to dress it up a bit. I'm excited, but I think my wife is even more excited after picking out everything. I know what our project will be later this summer ...
