Jim,
It's a camping area. We pitch our tents and leave them up. I've seen the showplane display areas that look like camping but nobody does, and wondered where the owners are.

Thank you Dave F
I will be sending the other Dave a note that we should be showing up on Saturday morning. We are just outside Chicago, so for us its a short flight.

One thing I did notice is that the showers seem to be a long way away. Bummer.

Thanks again

They bring a portable shower trailer in, just west of the aircraft repair area, which is close.

Will there be a 170 mass arrival? I'm planning on Sunday morning to fly in but if there is something like that happening I might change plans..

Bryce, we don't have a mass arrival, but lots of us will be arriving Sunday.

I’ve been busting my hump getting a new transponder installed and certified, oil change, airplane cleaned, BFR, medical, etc, etc, and now it looks like the weather may have other ideas... :(

I'm hoping that due to the weather, VAA gives us an extra day or two before they start filling the reserved area with non-170s.

Gremlins....
Pushed the plane out to start the trip this morning, turned fuel on to check forward fuel bowl and fuel starts running out my belly. Spent 4 hours just getting the valve out for a gasket and Oring’s. Made a nut plate, valve was installed in 45 mins.
I’ll be hard pressed to make it by Sunday, but I ‘m going to try.

Well, at least the Gremlins were nice enough to do that while the airplane was sitting in the hangar at home, rather than out on an unfamiliar ramp somewhere!

5x5. Really not a nice job even at home but at least I didn’t have to scramble for resources.

Currently on the ground in Kankakee, IL waiting for a break in the weather. Low ceilings and wind are exceeding my personal limits. Will get there when I get there ...

Got here, crazy-crazy-crazy biggest gong show I’ve ever participates in. Got in on my seventh circuit of Ripon to Fisk. Planes above below and the sides, planes slipping into the single file. Controllers telling everybody to go back and try again and everybody breaks left to get back in line first. Like A W I dog fight. One guy loses it , claims it his 15th circuit
Can’t believe I made it.
