Go for it Dave. For some strange reason we never get tired of hearing about 170s at this forum.

If you have a specific question though it's best to either ad to an appropriately titled thread or start a new one which helps to keep the info in some order.

I'm assuming your fairly new to the forum and trying to wade through the mass of info here. Wouldn't it be much easier and nicer if we all did a better job of talking about subjects under an appropriately titled thread?

So let her rip Dave.

here's the best picture of my 170
taken after many hours of polishing.
i have owned this plane before
and bought it back in 1994.
prior owner was john nelson
from audubon, iowa.
he gets all the credit for it's
beautiful appearance!!
unfortunately, he died about
2 years later
of a brain tumor.
he was a very nice guy
and loved flying

Dave, nice bird! Would have loved to have had you last weekend at OWA. We had several nice polished birds here, including some guys with their Swifts. Those guys know how to spit-shine an airplane.

is there a good way to brighten up dulled paint
due to aluminum polishing?

I just spray it on a rag and wipe down the dirty areas. Soot comes off and it leaves the paint looking good.

I have a ugly rubber glare shield on the dash
I'd like to remove it and make it look original
I see what looks like a thin piece of carpet
is there a good thread about doing this

I was just up to Oshkosh and forgot to take
pictures of all the dashes of the 170s up there

thanks

The "dash" is not covered with anything. So whet ever is there other than the same paint color as the front of your instrument panel (not the sub panel over lay), get rid of it.

Pretty simple.

No threads specific to the "dash" but many pictures through out that are of instrument panels. Some might but most don't focus on the "dash" cause there's nothing really to focus on.
