Re: Compass Fluid?
Be careful should you try to clean the yellowed numbers. Tried that on a compass in my basement and nearly cleaned all the number entirely off the card. i'd start with a Q-tip and water and add mild detergent if water doesn't do what you want.

Thanks, I expect that could be a tricky situation.

Re: Compass Fluid?
Bill, I expected the number paint to be very hard and I expected the yellow to be a superficial yellow scum. Don't recall what solvent I used first but the paint wasn't hard and it was much more effective than I wanted. The issue I then had was to carefully continue with all the rest of the card so the one area did not stand out. Overall the numbers where whiter but what I lost in boldness and crispness of the numbers negated the fact they were whiter. Cleaning the glass likely might be the only cleaning you need to do.
This compass was for my Cub. I couldn't see it any better at 4ft simulating the back seat of the Cub where I fly, than when I started, and I have yet to install it. Overall a disappointing adventure.
