I was sitting down with a friend discussing fire extinguishers in aircraft [due to what has been written here ] and all the pit falls of different fire extinguisher etc. he told me that that a couple cans of Pepsi was used to put out a fire in a recently refurbished Cessna 206. A passenger in the most rearward seat lit up a cigarette and the pilot shouted at him to put it out .No smoking was the rule . The cigarette ash holder had been removed but not blanked off. The passenger stubbed his cigarette out in that space . The sound deadening material used was polyester Matt. Not approved but really ignited big time . Total panic erupted and a quick thinking forward passenger used a shaken and slightly cracked can of Pepsi sprayed the area. Another can was used for good measure . “ shaken but not stirred”.
