Post by frfsgpo1 »

Hello everybody, I am a new member and 170A owner since 2017. Have a cracked left Flap bracket. Anybody have any experience with the same fix? Thanks

Post a picture or diagram of the subject area and you will get a better answer. Not enough info in your post for a good reply. This subject has been discussed before if you want to do a search.

Hi and welcome!

If you haven't already done so get an Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC). You can download it for free here.

You'll find the part number for the flap horn is 0523910. Doing a quick search Univair is the only place I found that sells this part. They want $513. For about half the price they also sell p/n 0520106 which is the same bracket on the straight 170. Anybody know what the differences are between these two parts? The latter part is also available elsewhere besides Univair, which probably explains the price difference between the two parts.

There are a couple of examples on this forum where guys have repaired the horn. See Jim and Richard's suggestions here and Mike's repair here.

While I doubt it has anything to do with your cracked flap bracket, Cessna issued Service News Letter 10-5-50 which talks about clearance issues with this flap horn.
