CPP100-2 fuel drain valve

Trying to find a replacement for a leaking fuel drain valve for our '48 170, serial # 18118. In the C170 parts book, it is on page 72, figure 38, item number 36. Can't find that part number anywhere, or even a cross reference. Any ideas/suggestions?

Preferred Air Parts inventory shows that they have nine of them. Here's another -- probably more expensive -- source. If your A&P agrees, an alternative 1/8" NPT valve might be considered a minor alteration. Is it possible to just replace the o-ring on your leaking valve? Not sure if that is a Curtis valve. If so, maybe one of these seals will fit.

My 48 has pipe threaded drains. Buy them at Oshkosh for carrying extras.

Any idea why the plane needed two drain valves within inches of each other?

That type gascolator operates differently than later designs in that a standpipe creates a separation point in the fuel supply. Two valves allow for draining both sides of the system.

Called Preferred Airparts and they did have 9 in stock, BUT, after they sent me a photo of the valve to be sure it is what I was looking for, it looks nothing like what I have. Doesn't even have threads on it. Maybe a discrepancy in the part numbers??

That makes sense. Interesting the same style gascolator is used on the 120 and 140 yet they don't utilize this second drain valve.

Sorry my leads aren't panning out. Dodson may have a '48 170 in their inventory. They do show a CPP100-2 drain valve but it's off of a Beech 35E. A used drain valve would be a last resort for me. I'd try overhauling what you have before replacing it with another used one of unknown airworthiness.

I appreciate your help. It gave me a lead to find out that the CPP100-2 was not the correct part, at least the part Preferred Airparts had under that part number. Will probably go the route of rebuilding the existing valve.
Also found some info on the bottom of the valve, stamped into the handle, almost microscopic! I couldn't make out the second number with certainty, either a 0, 6, or 8. Googled it several ways and came up with nothing.

Superseded parts numbers are a pain in the intellect.

Cessna and its Vendors found a way to sell off inventory of NOS parts from A/C models ceased production. Very smart list price at that time frame.

Here is a link showing exactly what the valve looks like, except the number stamped on the handle is different. I'm assuming the different part number signifies thread size.
