Manifold Cabin Heater - MORE

Post by MoonlightVFR »

Having learned First on this excellent forum that Valve 0713019-75 Assembly was decidedly a "Safety of Flight item."
I have absorbed Pg 13 Owners Manual and IPC Figure 42A pg 75A and Fig 55 pg 95.

Now was time to do hands on. Cessna C170 B s.n. 26433 1954.

SURPRISE Not only were my bowden cables frozen inoperable. The Gate Plate assembly was locked in the WORST possible position. It is level 50/50 not Closed nor full open. Cabin Valve assembly fig 55- 0713019-75 was FULL open. This is extremely dangerous You have RAM Air and Intense Heat heat from Right MUFF feeding right into the cabin.

WHAT I NOW SEE - Is opening for Duct Assembly 55-25 is Packed with old carpet fragments and grass. Some of which has dropped down into the SCAT tubing from R Muff. Closer to the heat source. Potential fire hazard and carbon monoxide. No color no smell.
Vermin.

Explains that long ago mysterious "toasted Grass smell" in the cabin.

I am appreciative that my former cavalier attitude did not result in tragedy.

Now is time to educate educate educate.
