Rudder pedal bearing replacement

Post by Kurt Aichele »

In the process of replacing the inboard and outboard rudder pedal shaft bearings on our '48 rag wing, serial # 18118. The outboard "single shaft" bearings appear to be fairly easy to replace with the bolts and nuts easily accessible. The inboard "double shaft" bearings have bolt heads that are accessible, but how in the world do you access the nuts on the underside? Looked at this for quite some time today and there just doesn't seem to be a way to access these nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
