I had inquired about the STC in March and Sybil said they were looking. Hopefully we come up with a supplier.

I bought these from Pat Bartone, but they are the Benham style that go straight out the cowl opening.

Gents any advancements on this. I’m planning on painting the old bird next spring, which includes eliminating those ugly cowl exhaust holes......let’s keep this going somehow...

If a group is gathering up numbers for an order I will buy a set as long as there is a STC to go along with it. I will reach out to Pat Bartone as well. Mike

Put me down for a set too, should this come to fruition.

You can add myself to the growing list of "interested" persons in a set of these. Cheers

I sent an email to what looks like Sybill Bartone's email address. Haven't received a reply however I sent it this day. Does anyone know if the phone number for Pat Bartone is 866-758-4191? Does anyone have an update from Mr. Bartone? Thanks.

I talked with Pat and he told me that his supplier/bender wanted a fortune to do this work now that it has traded hands. He also sent me the stuff to see what I could get them built for here. He is trying just not sure anyone would want to pay the price now with his new cost. just got the stuff yesterday and need to talk with muffler shops here and see. Ron

Thank You Ron, can you keep us posted. Did Pat give a production price? of what his vendor quoted him? Mike

yes but I don't recall but it was way more than he charged for the sets before. I just called a muffler shop here in Lafayette and they told me they don't have the equipment to bend it the required way?? with all the shops here one would think???? it takes a computer mandrel bending machine that bends as it has a ball inside to keep the ID consistent thru-out without any flat spots as tail pipes have! will keep looking. :? I visited the Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum at DCA over July 4th. I took the attached snapshot of a loop tape video they had playing above where they worked on various restoration projects. The restorer was explaining how he bent the wingtip bow tubing. Instead of filling the tube with sand or pitch he used Cerrobend, which I had never heard of before. It has a melting point lower than the boiling point of water. I wonder whether this might work for bending these exhaust pipe extensions. My guess is that Cerrobend is for smaller diameter tubing. Anyone have experience with this stuff?

Looks like it's available for $ 20/lb. here. But still expensive for larger diameter pipes.

gents, I have talked with every mufler shop here and no way they can bend it with the machines they have. I looked on the internet for mandrels benders and the one that would work cost right at 45 grand so it is going to have to be a big shop or a hot rod/drag car shop-where the build roll cages and stuff. :( :( The 321 stainless material is 40 bucks a ft best deal I found and loss may be questionable cause they said it would be random lengths so may lose up to $80+ on lengths. I guess even if it cost a bunch for Pat to use his old source and let the cost be what is is?? the shop I stopped at to discuss this in length had a hotrod and showed the roll cage bends that would do the trick? maybe get together on this with a firm number of sets and then Pat could negociate a better deal.
