Members Plane - AOPA

Post by 170C »

Reading the weekly AOPA _ ePilot, I see C-170 member Vincent Lalomia's '54 170-B in the article on the Groton, CT flyin. Sharp plane!

My friend parked his Comanche beside him. He texted me a picture and said, "THIS is a 170".

I complimented him on his astute observation.

Check out AOPA live OCT12. At 18:55 there is a great photo of his plane.
I met Vincent at the AOPA fly in at Plymouth MA. in 2014. I had not flown in 30 years but I volunteered to park airplanes on Sunday. After lunch they asked me to help block out planes from the camping area. That's when I saw Vincent's 170. I kept watching to see if he showed up to leave for home. When he did I told the other guys I had to take a break, and went over to the 170 to introduce myself. Vincent took the time to show me his plane and explained some of the differences between the a and b model. That's when I said to myself " I have to get back into flying and in a 170".
I purchased N2704C in Maine 3 months later.
A year later I wanted to thank him for taking the time to show me his plane and luckily I had jotted down his n number in a notebook.
I tried to fly to Groton CT a couple of weeks ago but PYM was IFR most of the day. I am glad he made it. That is a beautiful 170.

Thanks Vincent
