Boarding Steps
Has anyone explored any alternative boarding steps on their 170's? I don't hear of many complaints, but my passengers keep bending, kinking, mine! Looking to see if Cessna 180/185 or even 177 steps might be modified to fit. Gotta find something that can handle my 250+ lb friends

Re: Boarding Steps
Just finished fitting some new steps from Mc Farlane . Dealled directly with the company. Very impressed with the service and paper work. They are made of chrome moly steel , very well made looks original. Drilling the new attach holes are are bit testing but use a colbalt drill. Very happy with the over all job

Ghostflyer, you must REALLY have enjoyed doing that job since you posted it twice. (or was that for the Left...and then the Right...???)

NAh, just finger trouble using a iPad. AND I didn't enjoy the job , some genius had used cherry max rivets which are a "delight" to remove . Due to the lack of access in the floor to rerivet I used NAS screws .

Re: Boarding Steps
I just put the F. Atlee Dodge step on my pilot side....my step broke off at the weld. Looks good, well built. A bit of a pain but, looks like it will hold up well.

Re: Boarding Steps
My IA repaired my step which failed at the weld by re-welding in place which looks good and should last another 65 years. No corrosion inside, just weld failure. One hour labor.
