Temperature of Heated Pitot

Post by MoonlightVFR »

I have misplaced my infrared temp gage. Harbor Freight special $29.00

Has anyone ever gaged their heated Pitot?

If so would you please post the temp after it being on for 5 minutes?

I know it is high, have you heard incidents?

I pulled the skin off my fingers once when installing a cover after a flight. (This was on a 24-volt unit.) The tube is intended to have relative wind blowing over it and it really cooks when stationary. A good test is to rest an ice-cube upon it and watch it melt.

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
