Friends don't let friends glue windshields

Post by nippaero »

I'd really like to have some words with the person who used rubber caulking to glue in the old windshield in my 170! :x I spent the whole day scraping away the glue and cleaning up the mess in preparation for the new windshield. The thing was stuck pretty good and the channels were full of silicon and felt stuck together.

I feel your pain. Mine was filled full of silicon as well. It took me over a day to get the trim piece off and a few more days to get all the silicon out.
Are you planning to re-rivet or put screws in?

I'll be using screws to put it back.

I'm on the fence with mine. The holes are in good shap and screws tend to rust. I guess with nut plates I could swap any screws that start corroding.
