Its a 10-32 nutplate. Same thread as an AN-3 bolt.

NAS387-1032-8P Should work nicely.

Grady,
The IPC, in fig. 36-16, calls for a "T-5/8". It adds that this is a product from "AU-VE-CO". Amazingly, this company is still around; they've been around for over 100 years! AU-VE-CO stands for Auto-Vehicle Parts Company. They've adapted with the times. It seems they have more plastic fasteners than metal ones in their catalog.

My guess is that the T-5/8 screw was 5/8" long so the 1/2" one Dave recommended might be too short (but I doubt it). A countersunk screw from Spruce will also have a 100° head. As this was an automotive screw originally it probably had an 82° oval countersunk head like this one.

Nice sleuthing Gary. Any chance these folks have a line on the original strap ends ?

Jim, I was thinking the same thing. I didn't see anything like those strap end fittings in their catalog though.

WOW Thank all of you for the kind assistance.

I had totally missed Fig 36A -- there it was the Assist Strap and T 58 reference.

And if your an originality nut, the screw is slotted, not a Phillips. :)
