I noted in reassembly that Scott Lock washer p.n. 3225 on my tail scott 3200 had the tang broken off.
Now why would any mechanic break off the tang ?
Leads me to a few questions.
Is the lock washer even necessary? What is it's true function?
Which side of the fork is it supposed to fit?
Do all scott 3200 tail wheel assemblies have this part?
What can happen if NO lock washer is installed?
Regards

The tab fits in a hole on the tailwheel fork. The washer also captures the head of the bolt.
This keeps the bolt from rotating.

And it can go on which ever side of the fork you place the bolt head. Both forks have the holes.
